- From Iron to Diamond, every league is split into 4
divisions, IV → I; each division is 100 LP.
- You collect LP by winning. When a division’s LP is full you are promoted to the next one;
after Diamond I comes Master.
- You reach Master at 2 400 LP in total. Master and above have no
divisions; LP keeps growing without a cap.
The LP you win or lose in a match isn’t fixed:
- It depends on your opponents’ strength: beating a strong team gives more LP, losing to a weak
team costs more LP.
- If your LP is behind your hidden rating, you climb faster (bigger gains, smaller losses); if
it’s ahead, the opposite happens. This way your league settles at your real strength over time.
- LP per match has a lower and an upper limit; you can’t win or lose an extreme amount in one match.
- In 5v5, if your team has a player in a much higher league than you, you get less LP for a win;
if your team has a player in a much lower league, you lose less LP for a loss.
- If a teammate leaves and you lose, your loss is reduced; if you play the same opponents very
often, LP changes shrink — see Ranked.
Every season, the first 5 matches in each mode are placement
matches.
- LP doesn’t change during placement; you see
“Placement n/5” on screen.
- After match 5, you are placed into a league and division based on
your performance.
- Placement has an upper limit: you can’t be placed straight into Master — higher leagues are
reached by winning matches.
- Until you finish placement you don’t appear on the leaderboard; you also need to complete it for
the league badge and season titles.
For a few matches after a promotion you can’t drop below your new division. The shield goes down
by one every match, whatever the result. How many matches it lasts can change with the season
settings.
- A loss never takes your LP below the bottom of your division: if you have LP in your division
and lose, you go down to 0 LP at most. When that happens, the screen shows “Next loss
demotes”.
- If you lose at 0 LP (and have no promotion shield), you drop to the division below and start
it with some LP.
- Iron IV 0 LP is the bottom; you can’t drop any lower.
- If you lose at Master 0 LP, you drop to Diamond I.
- If you leave a match, the shield and the 0 LP buffer don’t apply; you can drop a division
straight away.
Everyone who reaches 2 400 LP in total is Master. Grandmaster and
Champion, however, aren’t leagues with their own LP threshold:
- They are decided every day at UTC 00:00, from the Master players in that
mode’s overall leaderboard.
- A limited number of players with the highest LP become Champion; a set number of players
after them (with a minimum Master LP) become Grandmaster. The numbers are season settings; the
current rule is shown in the Season tab of the Arena window.
- On equal LP, the player who reached that LP first ranks higher.
- Only placed players are ranked; banned accounts and staff are not.
- If your LP drops below 2 400, you immediately stop being Grandmaster or
Champion; if you climb back, you’re considered again at the next daily reset.
- In rewarded seasons, Champions also get the live Champion title — see
Titles & Badges.
At Master and above you can’t stay at the top without playing:
- If you don’t play a ranked match in a mode for 7 days, your LP
in that mode goes down by a set amount every day at UTC 00:00 from then on
(the amount is a season setting).
- At Master 0 LP, decay drops you once to Diamond I and then stops.
- Playing a single ranked match in that mode resets the timer.
- Decay is separate for each mode: playing 1v1 doesn’t stop decay in 3v3.
- If Ranked is closed that day, decay doesn’t happen.
- The game sends a notification when decay is about to start; a warning also appears in the Season
tab.
Note: Values such as the length of the promotion shield, the decay amount and the number of
Grandmasters and Champions can change with the season settings. The division, LP and placement
numbers on this page are fixed in the game.
