Opening Gates

Raids are solo battle arenas: you open a Galaxy Gate, clear the enemies that pour in wave after wave, and earn a large reward for completing it. There are four gates — each one tougher and more generous than the last.

Before you can enter a gate you must open it, and to do that you need to collect enough gate parts for that gate. Parts are earned by spinning.

Gate parts cannot be bought directly — you win them by spinning:

  1. Stock up on RME first. RME is the fuel for spins. It drops from Bonus Boxes and Booty Boxes and from the Spaceball event. See the Boxes page for details.
  2. Spin the wheel. Each spin gives a single weighted-random reward from the pool below. Every spin costs RME; when you run out of RME it automatically falls back to Red Matter.
  3. Collect gate parts. Some spin outcomes are gate parts — each part belongs to a specific gate (Void, Rift, Nebula or Inferno). Keep spinning until you reach the part count your target gate needs. How many parts each gate requires is shown on the cards above.

Spins don’t only give parts: the ammo, rockets and Bonus HP you roll go straight into raid prep — a handy way to stock up before you enter.

The table below lists every outcome a spin can give and its chance (%). Once a gate’s parts reach the required count, that part drops out of the pool, so your remaining spins shift toward the other rewards.

Once a gate reaches its required part count you can prepare it and enter the raid. Preparing spends the parts you collected for that gate and drops you into its first wave.

  • You start every raid with 3 lives.
  • If you die inside, you lose a life but the gate is preserved — you can re-enter with your remaining lives.
  • If you need more, you can buy extra lives for Red Matter each, up to 10 lives.
  • If you die when your lives run out, the gate collapses and you must collect its parts again.
